Our Story
As an outpatient private practice owner in Eastern Suffolk County, I've helped many individuals in my office over the years. I had no idea how many people needed therapy but couldn't get to a local office like mine. It wasn't until I had an eye opening personal experience that helped me truly understand. My Grandfather who lived in Nassau County was hospitalized, then discharged to homecare for a very brief time. Apparently after 2 weeks he no longer qualified as "homebound" according to Medicare's Definition. However, my Grandparents were both unable to drive, and had difficulty getting in & out of the house, even with help. It proved to be VERY difficult for him to get to the local therapy office. Members of our family worked hard to help him with the difficult task of getting out of the house, into the car and to the local office. He needed 2-3 sessions per week. Not only was the process physically difficult for him, he wasn't comfortable in the busy office environment either. I called several locations and tried to get someone to go to him, but I was unsuccessful. That experience opened my eyes to the NEED for old fashion "house calls" for Physical Therapy & Occupational Therapy. My Grandmother was actually our very first patient! I have since sold my practice and now, along with a Team of Great Therapists, provide in-home therapy only. -MJC
